Thanks!

Yes, the car was made with all the tools that should make the 'realfeel' ff plugin work, although you really want to get at least a G25

There are car upgrades, one is 'realfeel' which disables the default FF completely. The readme has some base realfeel ini settings.

post 1 updated, its out!
what? an rFactor car that I should try?

Perhaps!

Hopefully, tomorrow will see the release of the Corvette C6, a 400hp, torque-y machine that tries hard to bring rFactors physics to a new level. To our best knowledge, this car is the most advanced (physics wise) yet to appear for rFactor. It tries to use tyres that are actually from this planet, amongst suspension and other parameters that seem to make sense.

Stay tuned, download URL will be added when done, probably tomorrow...

Edit: here it is!!! version 1 is available for download

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Corvette%20C6

hopefully some nicer direct download mirrors will be added.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pAkfV9muHk thats bike countersteering by the master.. I wouldn't try that at home, at least not when the nearest hospital is far away..

That driving is what racing is really about! That is wat formula one used to be until the mid 70s as well..

Beauty!

Steer - look I find odd. One can probably get used to it but I'd say its one of those things that makes sims harder. One of the essential things in race sims is to know where the nose of the car is pointing (i.e. the yaw angle). With look/steer enabled, you sort of have to do some brainwork to figure out where the car is actually pointing as the view doesn't always resemble it.

Also when applying opposite lock, the head will turn the other way.. I'd like my view to be fixed, with only a bit of 'shake' for effect perhaps.

A more complex system might work a bit better, i.e. look based on something like a combination of lateral G force and corner radius..

that video has quite a bit of not seen before p34 onboard footage, you see the suspension and driver inputs quite well too.

It still races too! In the historic f1 series thingy. Not the best pic but this was from last weekend at the 'new' Ring.

Its not likely that the Veyron would set the quickest lap anyway!

The biggest dissapointment in the Hardcore PHysics happens when you go to that racetrack, near the airport.. It makes absolutely no sense at all, its quite messed up and not even as good as the 'standard' ISI cars imo!

We're staying at http://www.pension-muehlenhardt.de/ in the 'centre' of the old track, near the Karrusell. Some places where booked but this had a few rooms left, and aparantly serves food and beer, so thats about all you need.. Smile

Lets do the anti rain dance! :S

Other than a handfull of privateers and much less than a handfull of 'good cars' for rFactor, you won't find anything that will live up to the LFS player expectations here.. They *WILL* insist on using tyres made from a totally different material than rubber..

Yeah yeah.. nice model (perhaps).. but I'd rather drive a 100 polygon lx4 than any 'stock ISI / SIMBIN' car!

I read an interview sometime with the Forza 2 devs where they said they dropped pacejka and made their own tyre model, that was more cpu heavy but gave better results. He claimed the importance of load sensitivity.

Another video, based on the z06 505hp physics, as usual, imagine the tyre screaming sounds ..

if thats not un-rfactor-like then I dunno..

That stuff at Monaco didnt' make sense anyway, it wasn't like Lewis had the pace to really get Fernando.. Lewis was a bit lucky that he got away with the risks there, even touching the barriers a few times as he said..

That is the current protection Logitech build in that is kicking in. Steer fast and the DFP applies the brakes on the motor. Nice eh!

Discovery Channel once had a clip of a B52 landing with strong crosswind.. Now this plane has two pairs of wheels on the front and two near the back, somewhat oddly.. If I recall it properly, it steered the landing gear into the runway direction on the approach.. cool stuff
Going to the Ring: Oldtimer Festival! Any camping tips?

Yo!

Simracers going to the Ring! Not likely to drive the Nordschleife, but just having a look at it and watching some races on the 'new' track should mean a good weekend, 15 16 and 17 june.

Any LFSers coming? Some old Group C cars, GT, motorcycles (iirc).. might be a good event, and if last years Spa Historic GP was to be similar, it won't be crowded and you can basically walk through the pits and get a real good look up the cars exhaust pipes. Smile

Since its a popular destination for more than a few LFS forummers, where is the best place to stay? Are there campings that have those 'permanent' tents with beds and a fridge etc? I have yet to embark on a Google search, but figured it made sense to ask here..

Seeing the Ring after driving it for 9 years virtually.. Looking forward to that! Smile

I tried it ages ago and my keyboard/mouse/Plasma Lite game controller didn't mind it.. It would not so much help input lag but perhaps it might help FF 'speed'.. Not that I use that..

And those 'USB "overclock" utilities' that are out? I think they change a windows DLL or SYS file, you can set USB polling to 125 (std), up to 1000hz.. Would that be an improvement or does it increase the buffer length..

Its not entirely impossible that the heat produced by the graphics card just heats the processor up beyond its 'down throttle' point.. Use a utility like 'coretemp' (google) to see what sort of temperatures you have somewhat exactly..

Turned into an amusing thread, and via PM the matter seems to be resolved / resolving in a very good way..
